Parsons CPA is a growing Charlotte-based firm. Our spring internship is full of tax experience with little to no administrative duties. Interns work on multiple team engagements to service our privately held, small to mid-size business clients, as well as their individual tax needs. There is room for movement in the firm and options to specialize or broaden your experience working alongside staff and managers to strengthen your technical skills with hands-on training and formal training sessions.
Examples of the candidate’s responsibilities include:
Working closely with the client’s internal accounting function, both on-site and remotely, to provide client accounting services, tax return preparation and consulting, and financial statement analysis (audits, reviews, and compilations)
Developing an understanding of the methods and software used for accounting, tax, and attest
Performing procedures to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues
Express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in written form and write detailed document findings.
Prepare financial reports and other client deliverables
Meet deliverable deadlines, identify roadblocks, and understand critical milestones to meet team and client service expectations.
Seek to understand the client’s business as a whole, including competitors, trends and key customers and show sensitivity to the client culture and business strategy.
Basic Qualifications:
Eligible or working toward eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed a tax course
A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred
Strong computer skills, including MS Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work as an effective member of a team
Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
