Parsons CPA is a growing Charlotte-based firm. Our summer internship is full of audit experience with little to no administrative duties. Interns work on multiple team engagements each year, including several pieces of any particular assignment - not just a single line item or a single client. There is room for movement in the firm and options to specialize or broaden your experience working alongside staff and managers to strengthen your technical skills with hands-on training and formal training sessions.
Examples of the candidate’s responsibilities include:
Developing an understanding of the audit approach and tools
Apply industry trends to analytics, formulate expectations and determine reasonableness.
Performing substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues
Express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in written form and write detailed document findings.
Prepare financial reports (statements, footnotes and any supplemental information) and all other client deliverables, as well as proofreading colleagues reports.
Meet deliverable deadlines, identify roadblocks, and understand critical milestones to meet team and client service expectations.
Seek to understand the client’s business as a whole, including competitors, trends and key customers and show sensitivity to the client culture and business strategy.
Basic Qualifications:
Working towards B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from accredited university
Accounting Major
Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed an auditing course
A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred
Strong computer skills, including MS Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work as an effective member of a team
Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
